Robbie Lawler and Mo Lawal added to January Strikeforce card

Strikeforce veterans Robbie Lawler and Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will each be in action on the January 7 Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine lineup, as more fights were recently announced for the officially confirmed card.

The event takes place on Showtime from Las Vegas, Nevada with a main event pitting middleweight champion Luke Rockhold against UFC veteran Keith Jardine in the American Kickboxing Academy product’s first title defense.

Meanwhile, Lawler has been signed to face Adlan Amagov, while Lawal will tangle with Lorenz Larkin.

“Ruthless” Robbie is currently in a two-fight losing skid, dropping his record to 18-8 overall. Amagov sports a 9-1-1 mark, including a victory over Anthony Smith just last month.

Lawal returned from an extended break to have knee surgery to defeat Roger Gracie back in September, as the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion looks to get back his belt. Larkin is 12-0 and has won four fights this year alone.

Damn, Larking really doesn’t need to be taking this fight yet. He might win, but he could be brought up a lot slower. Props to him for taking this fight though. Should be exciting while it lasts.

War Lawler, my boy is gonna crumple Amagov.

    Gotta love name value JCH.

hindsight- My comment for Robbie was more blatant fanboy speech. No matter what he does he’ll always be one of my top guys. Although I do think he’ll be able to beat Amagov, because he’s got decent enough wrestling to keep it standing.

Yep, feels like your stabbed in the gut everytime a fight gets passed the second round with him in it these days. It seems like all his will to win is gone at the ten minute mark.

  • I’ll second those comments guys. Robbie is one of those guys thats never in a boring fight but if he doesnt win after ten minutes he just kinda seems like his game plan goes out the window and he doesnt know what to do. He’s a great fighter and had he played smarter he could’ve took jacare’s title and were he just a tad more aggressive he could’ve beaten Tim Kennedy. I really hope he comes over to the ufc when sf folds…i think him and Belcher, Boetch(sp?), and a couple other guys could produce slug fests that would have the crowd cheering from bell to bell.
