MAIN CARD

Paul McVeigh vs. Erik Perez

Fight Recap: The first round was filled with nothing but technical difficulties, making it hard to know what exactly happened. Both announcers scored the round for Perez, so I’ll trust them and say he was up one after one. Thankfully the technical difficulties cleared up in the 2nd round. Both men scored with takedowns, and while neither did much damage, Perez achieved the more dominant positions. Perez also got the better of things on the feet, landing the cleaner and more powerful shots. Perez should be up 2-0 after 2. McVeigh scored a couple of takedowns in the 3rd round but didn’t do a ton of damage with them. In fact, Perez was busier off his back than McVeigh was on top. The round ended with Perez on top as well. The 3rd round was close, but Perez should take the decision.

Result: Erik Perez def. Paul McVeigh via Unanimous Decision

Andre Winner vs. Diego Gonzalez

Fight Recap:First round was all on the feet. Winner had the faster hands and stuffed every takedown of Gonzalez but Gonzalez did a nice job landing elbows on the inside when Winner would get in too tight. Good action in the first but Winner took it based on cleaner striking and aggressiveness. The technical difficulties returned in the second round. Based on what I saw and the commentary, it seemed a lot like the first round with Winner stuffing the takedowns and using his speed to get the better of things on the feet, including busting the nose of Gonzalez. More technical difficulties in the third. Gonzalez did nothing but try for a takedown, but Winner was never on his back. Winner dropped and hurt Gonzalez multiple times late in the round but couldn’t finish him. Dominant win and performance by Winner, who should easily take the decision.

Result: Andre Winner def. Diego Gonzalez via Unanimous Decision

Jim Wallhead def. Joey Villasenor via KO Round 1 (Strikes)
Jimi Manuwa def. Antony Rea via TKO Round 1 (Strikes)

*Note: Due to the technical difficulties, HDNet pulled the live feed of BAMMA 8 after Winner vs. Gonzalez.
