Magalhaes (5-0) will be making his UFC debut against Maldonado (18-4), who has split his two fights inside the Octagon.
UFC 142 will feature a main event pitting UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo against No. 1 contender Chad Mendes. The co-main event for the Brazilian show boasts Vitor Belfort against Anthony Johnson.
Magalhaes, a Brazilian, has been competing around Brazil’s circuit for the past two years, earning his most recent victory earlier this month by split decision over Ismael de Jesus.
Maldonado won his first UFC match with a TKO over James McSweeney, but was stopped by Kyle Kingsbury this past June by decision.
The Magalhaes vs. Maldonado bout is expected to be featured on the FX-televised portion of the prelims card.
