Beyond announcing the event UFC President Dana White also made the first bout official after the match-up had recently been rumored. According to White, Che Mills will indeed face off with Rory MacDonald in a welterweight contest as had been expected.
Mills is 14-4, including a win in his Octagon debut over Chris Cope at UFC 138. Overall, Mills has won five consecutive bouts in addition to having finished eleven total opponents with four submissions and seven TKOs.
Comparably, MacDonald (12-1) is just as hot with recent victories over Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle. The surging Canadian’s lone career loss came at the hands of Carlos Condit, who will compete for the UFC interim welterweight title at UFC 143, in the waning moments of a bout he was likely winning on the judges’ scorecards.
