Rafaello Oliveira out of UFC on FX 1 due to hand injury

14-5 Brazilian lightweight Rafaello Oliveira has regrettably had to remove himself from a January 20 rumble with debuting talent Reza Madadi after a hand injury failed to heal as well as he’d originally expected. The decision was no doubt made more difficult by the fact their UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller match-up was set to take place in Nashville, Tennessee while Oliveira resides in nearby Knoxville.

“Guys, unhappily I won’t be able to fight…My hand still hurts a lot, I was really looking forward to fight on my State,” wrote a disappointed Oliveira on Twitter.

The 29-year old “Tractor” was looking to snap a two-fight skid against Madadi with back-to-back losses against Gleison Tibau and most recently Yves Edwards at UFC Live 6. Oliveira returned to the UFC last year after picking up four straight victories on the heels of an earlier release.

The show, also the UFC’s debut on FX, is headlined by 155ers Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller mixing it up with other bouts including Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft and Duane Ludwig vs. Josh Neer.
