Brock Lesnar: “When that cage door gets locked, the beast within Brock Lesnar will come out.”

Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem have each won titles in their respective companies, with Lesnar being a former UFC heavyweight champ and Overeem having held gold in Strikeforce, DREAM, and K-1.

Now, when the two massive heavyweights step inside the Octagon on Friday night in the main event of UFC 141, fireworks will be expected and for good reason given their respective talents. The winner of Lesnar-Overeem becomes the No. 1 contender, landing themselves a shot at current UFC title-holder Junior dos Santos in 2012.

This will be Overeem’s debut in the UFC, while Lesnar is returning to action for the first time since last October, when he dropped the title to Cain Velasquez.

“This is a whole new chapter in Brock Lesnar. This is Brock Lesnar on his way back to becoming the UFC heavyweight champion once again,” Lesnar said in the recent UFC 141 Countdown special. “When that cage door gets locked, the beast within Brock Lesnar will come out.”

Meanwhile, Overeem feels like gaining the UFC title is the next stepping stone towards cementing his legacy in MMA, saying, “I already achieved something nobody else has achieved. I’m not satisfied. I believe the time is now for me to get the UFC belt.”
