Ultimate Fighter 5 alumnus Cole Miller will make a move down to featherweight for his next bout, following in the footsteps of other talented 155ers who’ve slimmed down like Kenny Florian, Bart Palaszewski, Tyson Griffin, and Ross Pearson. The 27-year old American Top Team product will test the 145-pound waters in early March as part of the UFC’s second show on FX.
Adding a bit of intrigue, Miller will face Steven Siler who eliminated younger brother Micah Miller in the qualifying round of TUF 14.
News of the match-up was first reported by TheMMACorner.
Miller is coming submission off a win over T.J. O’Brien, his thirteenth in eighteen total victories. Other impressive past performances from the TMNT-loving Miller include instances of success against Pearson, Dan Lauzon, and Jorge Gurgel.
Siler is nearly as seasoned as “Magrinho” but is officially 1-0 in the Octagon after outpointing Josh Clopton at the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale. He holds an overall record of 19-9 with twelve submissions of his own to boast.
UFC on FX 2 is headlined by Martin Kampmann vs. Thiago Alves and also features the opening round of the UFC’s tournament to determine the organization’s inaugural flyweight championship. Bouts include Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani.
