With the UFC‘s addition of the 145 pound division in 2011, numerous lightweights on the company’s roster decided to cut the extra ten pounds necessary to make their home at featherweight. Now it appears 19-8 Dennis Siver will be joining that list alongside the likes of other notable 155ers who’ve decided to dip their toes in a different pool including such names as Kenny Florian, Tyson Griffin, Ross Pearson, Charles Oliveira, Cole Miller, and many others.
Siver started climbing the lightweight ranks in June 2010 when he defeated Spencer Fisher via unanimous decision. Following that victory he rattled off wins against Andre Winner, George Sotiropoulos, and Matt Wiman in order to position himself as one of the top contenders in the division. However, his momentum was halted at UFC 137 in October when he was submitted in the first round by Donald Cerrone.
The German striker will make the move to featherweight sometime in 2012, although no official debut date has been set. News of Siver’s planned drop comes courtesy of MMAFighting.
