Hand injury will keep Luke Rockhold on sidelines for more than a month

Luke Rockhold‘s win over Keith Jardine may have been near perfect but the champion didn’t escape unscathed as Rockhold apparently broke his hand at some point in the out.

Rockhold made his first successful title defense of his Strikeforce middleweight title be knocking out the former UFC veteran at Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine. Rockhold confirmed the bad news surrounding his injury through Facebook where he wrote, “Thanks for all the love everybody. Couldn’t do it without you guys! So I did break my hand but it’s a clean break no surgery, minor price to pay for the sweet taste of VICTORY!!! 4-6 weeks be back in business.”

The good news for the American Kickboxing Academy fighter is that he will not need any kind of surgery to fix the hand, just rest and relaxation . Following his win, Rockhold made a claim inside the cage for Zuffa to bring some of the UFC’s top middleweights over to face him. It remains to be seen who Rockhold’s next opponent will be though a match with Tim Kennedy is a distinct possibility. Kennedy was set to be Rockhold’s first challenger, but an injury in training kept Kennedy out of the planned fight.

Sucks to have a broken hand but, it’s not like SF will have anything meaningful for him in next 6 months anyway.
