TUF Brasil finals, Vitor Belfort-Wanderlei Silva headed to summer PPV

While much of the UFC’s focus may be on this weekend’s lineup at UFC 142, the organization is also looking ahead a few months to TUF Brasil where coaches Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort will each lead a team composed of featherweights/middleweights hoping to become Brazil’s first Ultimate Fighter champion. At the end of the season Silva-Belfort will face off as well.

However, according to the UFC, it appears their fight in addition to the two TUF finals will take place on PPV as part of a massive June card possibly headed to Sao Paolo. The show would also host Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II assuming things fall into line and Sonnen defeats Mark Munoz later this month at UFC on FOX 2.

Word of the company’s plan surfaced earlier today at a pre-fight press conference pertaining to UFC 142 where MMAJunkie confirmed the full scoop.

“It’s going to be a world event that will rival F1 (racing) in this country,” explained UFC director of international development Marshall Zelaznik of the proposed show.

TUF Brasil is set to air in a few months with Fuel TV carrying a subtitled version for American audiences. It is the UFC’s first international version of the hit reality show.

Anyone going to be less interested in this series if Vitor loses this weekend? what if he loses badly?

I don’t know how much I like the idea of the UFC booking fights when the fighters have upcoming matches. MickeyC is right, what if Vitor loses? And to book Chael without seeing how he does against Munoz is asking for trouble. Same with giving Rashad the title shot before he gets by Davis.
I know we’ve all been asking for a clear cut #1, 2, 3 in each division, but announcing these type of prebookings just seems like an unnecessary risk.
