Of the multiple memorable moments stemming from UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes, perhaps none stands out more than Edson Barboza’s incredible spinning heel-kick knockout of Terry Etim in the third round of last night’s PPV opener. In addition to solidifying Barboza’s claim as one of the 155ers to watch in 2012 the jaw-dropping finish also earned the 25-year old $65,000 for being the event’s Knockout of the Night.
However, Etim didn’t walk away empty-handed either, taking home a share of Fight of the Night ($65,000) for his role in the exciting clash while Barboza doubled his windfall as a result.
Finally, Submission of the Night was handed to Rousimar Palhares for picking up the sixth Heel Hook victory of his career by submitting Mike Massenzio a little over a minute into the first frame of their bout. The win marked his third straight in the Octagon and, similarly to the other bonuses, earned him an extra $65,000.
