Bellator heavyweight champ Cole Konrad may finally have himself a future contender to fear in the form of Sean McCorkle, a 13-2 UFC veteran whose skill in the cage is matched by his razor sharp wit outside of it. Though “Big Sexy” won’t be coming in for an immediate title-shot or even super-fight, he will be making his debut when Season 6 opens up on March 9 with an event featuring featherweight quarterfinals and a championship clash between 145ers Joe Warren © and Pat Curran.
McCorkle’s signing was reported by Sherdog where his potential opponent, Richard White, was also mentioned.
The 6’7” McCorkle has won three straight scraps since parting ways with the UFC with all of the bouts involving a first round finish. Twelve of his thirteen total victories have involved a stoppage including an opening round Armbar of Mark Hunt at UFC 119.
On a side note, the March 9 event will now be known as Bellator 60 rather than Bellator 61 due to a cancellation of the March 2 show. McCorkle’s fight is expected to take place on the Spike.com-streamed undercard of the event.
