Alistair Overeem facing misdemeanor battery charge in Nevada

It looks like Brock Lesnar wasn’t the only person Alistair Overeem got into a physical confrontation with while in Las Vegas for UFC 141 where he faced the former UFC heavyweight champ in main event action.

According to a police report, Overeem is alleged to have shoved a woman in her face at approximately 3:00 AM on January 2, 2012, sending her stumbling backwards. He was not arrested at the time and instead issued a citation.

Overeem will face the music in court on February 21 answer to the charges. If found guilty “The Demolition Man” could face up to a $1,000 fine and six months behind bars.

“There are two sides to this story and we intend on vigorously defending this. Alistair maintains his innocence,” said Overeem’s defense attorney in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

No official comment on the matter has issued by the UFC or Overeem himself.

This is INSANE! He shoves a woman (probably for trying to push him into going on a vacation to Saint Lucia), she stumbles backwards, and there is a chance, albeit a slight one, that he may have to serve a 6 month sentence? Talk about a waste of time and money.

Will he face time behind bars since he’s not a citizen? And how come I don’t get adds to St. Lucia? This’ll blow over faster than Mayhems headlock on his sister.

You can go to jail for pushing someone without injuring them in America? If you went to the police with that complaint here they would prolly push you in the face again.

  • Logic we have so many dumb rules about what consitutes bodily harm or violating ones rights/privacy or comfort zones here that can land you in jail, its pitiful. Especially california.

Just wait. She’s going to lawyer up with some bottom feeder and sue for millions for emotional distress. If ‘Reem has a brain in his head and/or decent management, they’ll scoop up copies of every security surveillance tape they can find and hire an investigator to start checking into her background.

This is a perfect example of a saying my H.S. Economics teacher used to always say, “When people see a way to make money, they figure it out and exploit it.”

This is just a simple case of some woman overreacting and trying to use Reem’s fame and fortune to gain herself a little extra $$$.

This should be dismissed on the grounds that if The Reem wanted to cause her harm, he would have caved her face in with a jab.
