UPDATE: Nick Diaz included on list of UFC 143 medical suspensions

This past Saturday’s UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit event was filled with wild brawls as well as bone-crushing submissions, and the casualty count on the list of medical suspensions shows just that. A total of fifteen fighters have received some kind of mandatory vacation including main event winner and new interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit.

Condit, who defeated Nick Diaz via Unanimous Decision, is suspended until early March with no contact for a few weeks due to a laceration on his right cheek.

Word of his condition was released on Monday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

UPDATE: Also confirmed, Five Ounces of Pain spoke to NSAC executive Keith Kizer to inquire about Diaz’s status after the welterweight suffered clear damage in the bout but was not mentioned in the commission’s original report. Kizer explained, “For five round fights athletes get a minimum 20-day ‘mandatory waiting period’ so Mr. Diaz has that type of ‘medical suspension’.” However, with Diaz still sticking to his “retirement” it may be a moot point as is.

Both co-headliners Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson were hit with some time off, with Nelson’s taking him out until April.

Clifford Starks, Ed Herman, Edwin Figueroa, Matt Riddle, Henry Martinez, and Michael Kuiper are all on the shelf until August, but could be cleared earlier by a doctor.

Nelson is an animal… He may not win a strap or even get a shot BUT you better believe he ain’t letting any body else easily use him as a stepping stool… he will be employed for a long time to come as the gatekeeper to the upper crust of the HW division… He has plenty to offer & will get some big wins and some hard fought losses but either way I think he has earned his spot in the UFC.

Well-played, playa! lol I’m trying to find out why Diaz wasn’t listed when he clearly had damage. I wonder if he snubbed the medical staff after the card?

Did Condit run into the fence? I bet he has shin splints. I bet his biggest cause of pain is his conscience.

Yeah Rece Nelson getting the shit beaten out of him when he faces anyone slightly good is really impressive. I hope the UFC employs good fighyers too. I mean somebody has to wipe the floor with the fat b grade fighter that he is.
