When two fighters take the initiative and begin calling each other out, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva tends to listen. If another example of that was needed, just look towards how Dustin Poirier and Chan Sung Jung became the main event of UFC on Fuel 3, a show set for May 15 from Fairfax, Virginia.
Poirier and “The Korean Zombie” feuded over Twitter, provoking each other and ultimately setting up the bout. Given the main event billing and recent success of each man this match may very well decide the next contender at featherweight.
Poirier (12-1) is coming off two straight submission victories including a bonus-winning performance a week ago at UFC 143, while Jung (12-3) has been undefeated since moving over from the WEC, submitting Leonard Garcia and knocking out previous contender Mark Hominick in less than ten seconds this past December.
Other fights scheduled for UFC on Fuel 3 (originally labeled as UFC on FX 3) include Tom Lawlor vs. Jason McDonald and Donald Cerrone vs. Yves Edwards.
