Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher rounds out main card for UFC on FOX 3

UFC President Dana White promised four fights on the organization’s upcoming return to FOX and has shown himself to be a man of his word, announcing the always-tough Alan Belcher will battle submission-specialist Rousimar Palhares on network television May 5 at UFC on FOX 3.

White revealed the match-up Monday morning via Twitter.

Belcher made his triumphant return to the Octagon at UFN 25 after more than a year on the sidelines with an eye injury that nearly ended his career. The 17-6 middleweight has won his last three fights including his opening round beatdown of Jason MacDonald last September.

Palhares (14-3) has also come out with his hand raised the last three times he’s set foot in the Octagon, picking up a pair of his trademark Heel Hook victories and a decision over Dan Miller over the span. Ten of his total wins have been the result of a submission stoppage including five in the UFC.

The main card of UFC on FOX 3 was completed with the clash, now featuring Palhares-Belcher, Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson, Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks, and headliner Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz. Preliminary pairings include Dennis Hallman-Tony Ferguson, Pascal Krauss-John Hathaway, and John Dodson-Darren Uyenoyama.

  • Man if Alan can just avoid being put down on the ground he should have NO problem with this fight. If Dan Miller can almost KO Palhares then Alan should be able to do it cleanly….but that whole avoiding the ground thing……not easy with the tree stump

Big fan of Palhares… looking forward to him taking Belchers leg home and adding it to the collection… too bad Rousimar doesn’t collect arms, because he’d be doing all our eyes a favor…

  • As much of a Belcher fan as i am…you’re so right about his arm its ridiculous
Belchers got the biggest legs and best striking of anyone Toquino has fought so far….this one ends suddenly…either way.

I don’t mind the tattoo, but I’ve always been a big Goonies fan.
Love this match up. Big Palhares fan but I don’t see him walking through Belcher like he did most of his opponents. Yeah he got rocked by Miller, but Hendo couldn’t put him away so that’s not a given. I’m not gonna be too upset with whomever takes this one, but my head leans slightly towards Rousimar.

The tattoo actually looks like the fat guy from BeetleJuice… I think he is like the parents friend or something in the dinner party scene.

Finally Belcher gets another fight, i think the winner of this is only one more win away from a title shot, and as hideous as Belchers tattoo is, he is one of my favorites and I think he takes this by a one sided dec win, i dont see Paul Harris being able to to leg lock Belchers ridiculously sized legs and getting completely picked apart in the stand up.
