Jake Ellenberger outpoints Diego Sanchez to raucous approval of hometown fans

The day and network may have changed but the excellent action inside the Octagon remained the same, as the UFC delivered an action-packed event on Fuel TV for the first time in the organization’s history (not to mention a Wednesday).

UFC on Fuel: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez was headlined by streaking welterweight Jake Ellenberger building off his memorable knockout of Jake Shields by taking out original Ultimate Fighter champion Diego Sanchez. The win moved Ellenberger within snatching distance of divisional contendership, though it was almost not to be had after Sanchez made a late comeback to put the 26-year old in some difficult positions. However, Ellenberger weathered the storm and brought home the decision.

The show also featured heavyweights Stefan Struve and Dave Herman duking it out in a co-headlining collision with Struve landing a beautiful uppercut in the second round that essentially sealed the deal with the 6’11 Dutchman pounding “Pee Wee” out shortly thereafter.
