Glover Teixeira poised to make his UFC debut in May against Kyle Kingsbury

Glover Teixeira finally has a date for his UFC debut and it happens to be on one of the company’s biggest shows annually.  According to the UFC, the light heavyweight prospect will face Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146. The card is expected to take place May 26 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Teixeira (17-2) has long been looked at as a future UFC fighter, honing his skills in Brazil, but had prevented from joining the organization due to visa issues. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Hitsu, Teixeira trains alongside Chuck Liddell at The Pit. In his most recent fight, Teixeira defeated Ricco Rodriguez by submission in the first round, his fifteenth straight victory.  He has also earned past wins over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Marvin Eastman during his career.

Kingsbury (11-3) is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter who had a four-fight winning streak snapped against Stephan Bonnar last November. Kingsbury has won four of his fights by knockout during his career. Success in their scrap should be particularly important for “Kingsbu” who is 4-2 inside the Octagon but has only finished a single opponent during his post-TUF run.

UFC 146 has been growing an exponential rate over the past few days including additions to the card like Jason Miller-C.B. Dollaway, Gabriel Gonzaga-Shane Del Rosario, and Dan Hardy-Duane Ludwig.

This is looking like a great card. I love the fact that they’re also stacking it with really promising guys making their UFC debuts. I said before that Shane and Glover are gonna be forces in their divisions.

On a side note: To all the young MMA fighters out there, I just want to say the you don’t NEED a nickname. I know you want one, but they are not necessary for a long and prosperous career in MMA. If you find that you do need a nickname, please do not just put together sounds from you natural name. It makes you sound like an idiot, and unless you are one of the tops of the tops, you’re gonna to be thought of as an idiot. If you can’t think of a good name, just pick Pitbull like everyone else.

*this post is meant for Kingbu, J-Lau, and Kenflo*

nicknames are cool if you have an awesome name and people know you more by that than your real name (cro cop, shogun, ninja, all fucking badasssss names)
but i agree most nicknames are fucking shite
i remember Gegard Mousasi been introduced as ‘Dreamcatcher’ one time and he looked devastated, like once he heard it he knew he sounded like a cunt
in fact his career has slowed since

100% agree both Shane and Glover are exciting new additions. Shane in particualr i am way excited about taking a step up. Can’t wait to see him perform against calibre oponents
