Glover Teixeira finally has a date for his UFC debut and it happens to be on one of the company’s biggest shows annually. According to the UFC, the light heavyweight prospect will face Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146. The card is expected to take place May 26 from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Teixeira (17-2) has long been looked at as a future UFC fighter, honing his skills in Brazil, but had prevented from joining the organization due to visa issues. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Hitsu, Teixeira trains alongside Chuck Liddell at The Pit. In his most recent fight, Teixeira defeated Ricco Rodriguez by submission in the first round, his fifteenth straight victory. He has also earned past wins over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Marvin Eastman during his career.
Kingsbury (11-3) is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter who had a four-fight winning streak snapped against Stephan Bonnar last November. Kingsbury has won four of his fights by knockout during his career. Success in their scrap should be particularly important for “Kingsbu” who is 4-2 inside the Octagon but has only finished a single opponent during his post-TUF run.
