Miesha Tate on submission loss to Ronda Rousey: “No bones are broken…”

Miesha Tate suffered a nasty Armbar loss to new Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey this past weekend in the main event of Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey. After the loss Tate stayed on the mat inside the cage for several minutes, as Rousey bent her arm in an unnatural way causing what appeared to be some sort of serious damage to the limb.

However, the former title-holder has since revealed no bones were broken, though still needs to find out if any further damage was incurred and will get more testing done in the near future.

“I had X-rays last night,” wrote Tate, in a message to MMAFighting. “No bones are broken, which I already knew. Other than that, I have to get an MRI to find out anything further.”

Even with no broken bones, it would appear highly probable that Tate has some sort of ligament damage to the arm based on it being bent nearly completely back the wrong way by the Olympian. Medical suspensions from the show will likely be announced in the coming weeks.

Bones generally heel quickly and properly. Good to hear no bones were broken, but the real test will be the MRI early this week. Ligament damage = au revoir to Tate for a long time.

This site has gone to poop. What happened to the Post Fight Wrap-Up Articles? Now all this place has become is a rurgitating of ‘news’ articles from other MMA sites. What’s goin on here??

In all fairness I think Jeremy Lambert & Samer Kadi kinda just left the site and did there own thing with out much notice so once again the site is scrambling to find itself… The content was quality and abundant for a while there and Lambert bought some more personality to the site BUT it’s Brendhan whose left to pick up the pieces and build back up again…. so hats off to Conlan for keeping things rolling but I definately hear you Kamakosmo, your speaking the truth.

  • I hear you Kamakosmo but let’s also not forget that when they first lost Lambert and Kadi they had a grip of exclusive interviews all courtesy of Mr Levick and Conlan. Give it time, there’s a reason that alot of us have stuck with it for 3 or more years.

No doubt, I understand. Believe me, I like this site very much, which is why I come back mutliple times a day. I also like the regular commenter’s on here. You try to get involved in a forum/comments section at other sites and you find your defending yourself more than anything (even when it comes to simplistic thoughts like “The sky is blue”….believe me, there are some out there that will debate you on this pretty one sided concept).
Anyway, if I offended Brendhan or anyone else, not my intention at all and please accept my apologies. Like I said, if I didnt enjoy this site, I wouldn’t visit it multiple times a day.

Articles like this are always regurgitated. No one site holds the exclusive on it and it’s simply a retelling of a tweet.

And I miss the post fight wrap ups too, as well as the insight of writers like Kadi before the shows (although Loe Lebeau is pretty good too ;) ). But lets not look passed what has been done since Lambert and Kadi left. Pat Healy is posting exclusively on 5oz. We’ve had great interviews with fighters like Johnny Hendricks and Phil Davis from Bryan Levick. And Brendhan has gathered several new writers for opinion pieces to add to the site. It’s in a transition stage, but should get better in a few weeks.

AND once he gets the thumbs up/down aspect working again, this site will feel much more like it’s old self.

Add Brittney Palmer to the list of exclusives too (coming in about an hour on here). :)

Appreciate the support. Know that your concerns have not fallen on deaf ears. Doing our best and will keep on improving as we go along.

I blame the ufc for all this. If they announce bad ass fights . Like pettis vs nate or hendo vs michida or something we would have more to read about.
