Bellator 60 Results

Bellator FC is back with a brand new season, same old format. Things kicked off tonight in grand style on MTV2 with featherweight champion Joe Warren defending his belt against rising star Pat Curran. Curran earned his spot by winning a tournament last summer where he took out a handful of respected adversaries including Ronnie Mann and Marlon Sandro.

Also set for tonight’s card, the opening round of the Season 6 featherweight tournament took place where eight men battled it out for the right to lay claim to top contendership in the division as well as a six-figure paycheck. Adding to the entertainment, notable veterans Shamar Bailey, Travis Wiuff, and Sean McCorkle also saw action.

Curran wiped the canvas with Warren other than suffering the occasional takedown. In the end a brutal knee was followed up by a late strike-based stoppage, earning the young featherweight a dose of divisional gold. Advancing in the tournament were Sandro, Alexandre Bezerra, Daniel Straus, and Mike Corey who pulled off the upset against Mann.

Warren talked a lot before the fight… Looked like he was on his way to a UD win but then HELLO kneecap…. Ref gave the champ time to recover & then some but there was no coming back after eatin a bunch of follow up strikes… Ref shoulda just called it earlier and saved warren the extra punishment but I guess he wanted to give the champ a chance… I enjoyed bellator more then TUF but hey that’s just me.

Wuiff on the undercard? Didn’t he beat the lhw champ last time out?

Wiuf did grind out a decisions against the champ. It was a horrible fight though; I’m sure the massive weight cut didn’t help.

As much as Joe Warren bothers me, that ref was an asshole.

yep someone should explain to that ref is such a thing as a TKO, a fighter doesnt actually have to be knocked out cold to lose. Much as Joe Warren can be annoying in a Chael Sonnen kinda way, he didnt deserve that beating. ref should lose his licence, fight went on about 15 seconds too long.
great win for Corey, Straus looked much better.
Bezerra vs Sandro is gonna be an amazing fight
any of you think Vargas gave up that choke? he kinda popped his head up to have a look around while a quality black belt was on his back, almost a Frank Trigg moment
