Brazilian brawler Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos has been out of action since September, healing up from a handful of injuries while waiting for a call from Strikeforce to let him know who he’ll face next. While the decision will ultimately be made by the organization’s brass, if given the choice to pick an opponent the 34-year old already has someone in mind who he’d like to face – Paul Daley.
The two nearly met last year in the Strikeforce cage but Santos had to withdraw for health-related reasons.
It would make me happy fighting him. He would be a good opponent. I owe this fight to the fans,” said Santos of “Semtex” in a conversation with TATAME.
Daley and Santos are two of the hardest-hitting welterweights in MMA with each having a number of highlight-reel knockouts to their credit. Like Santos, Daley is also coming off of a losing performance meaning a match-up between the two would not only be guaranteed to entertain but evenly-matched as well from a divisional perspective.
According to Santos he’ll be ready to fight in May when Strikeforce is expected to hold a card in California hosting the final of the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand Prix.
