It appears that Brock Lesnar will head back to the place he first made a name for himself – the WWE. Lesnar, a former UFC heavyweight champ, is is reported to be in Miami right now where Wrestlemania 28 will be held this evening.
After a career that saw him skyrocket to notoriety in the WWE, Lesnar left citing the grind of travel and attempted a run in the NFL. However, while he showed promise, the venture ended after he failed to make any team’s opening game roster and Lesnar decided on giving MMA a go.
Early in his UFC career, Lesnar was given a chance at the heavyweight title and succeeded, defeating Randy Couture to win the strap. Unfortuantely, illness over the past few years stymied Lesnar’s ability to train at 100% and he announced his retirement following a loss to Alistair Overeem late in 2011.
A report filed by the Wrestling Observer states Lesnar has signed a one-year contract WWE and could show up as early as tonight’s annual PPV extravaganza. UFC President Dana White told reporters earlier in the week that he was fine with Lesnar returning to the WWE and that his UFC contract was no longer in effect.
