Heavyweight grappler John Olav Einemo announces his retirement from MMA

Heavyweight John Olav Einemo seemed to be more in the news for non-MMA reasons during his stint with the UFC than those related to the sport. Now, after going 0-2 inside the Octagon and being released, Einemo has announced his retirement from the sport.

The 36-year-old Norwegian is a former winner of the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship and holds a win over Roger Gracie in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament.

In an interview with Norwegian newspaper VG Nett, Einemo said he believes he could return to the UFC with a few wins on the regional circuit but felt spending time with his family as more important.

Einemo finishes his MMA career with a record of 6-3 including five wins by way of submission.
