The days of Gina Carano stepping inside a cage and not having a stunt double set to work alongside her seem to be just about over. Carano, who helped the sport of women’s MMA reach the masses while in Strikeforce, is being targeted for the newest installement in the hit Fast and Furious franchise.
The sixth entry in the series is set to begin filming in the coming months, with Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson, Vin Diesel, and Paul Walker all set to return. Carano would play an agent alongside Johnson’s character who is still working to capture the renegades played by Diesel and Walker.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report on her involvement with the “Fast & Furious” movie.
On the film front, Carano was recently cast in a role for In The Blood, said to have a plot similar to a Taken. She was also in the lead role in Haywire where she worked alongside such stars as Ewan McGregor and Antonio Banderas.
At the age of 30, as well as with a 7-1 record and her last fight coming nearly three years ago, it’s becoming more and more official – Carano is a Hollywood star these days, not a MMA one.
