Junior Assuncao was as surprised as fans after his release from the UFC earlier this year. Now, Assuncao officially has a new home after signing a multi-fight deal with Texas’ Legacy FC.
Assuncao (13-5) will make his debut with the company on July 13 at Legacy FC 12 though no opponent has been announced for him.
MMAJunkie was the first to report the 30-year old Brazilian featherweight’s signing.
Assuncao went 1-2 after debuting inside the Octagon in 2006 as a lightweight and was let go. He returned to regional action, compiling a solid 7-1 mark and earning another shot in the UFC. He returned to the organization as featherweight, defeating Eddie Yagin but losing a decision loss to Ross Pearson which ultimately led to his release.
