Though a disappointing performance, the Ultimate Fighter finalist, who has suffered back-to-back defeats, was offered some words of encouragement from a surprise source - Tim Tebow, the former quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Schaub trains in Denver, presumably familiar with Tebow from their time together there, and current New York Jets QB gave “The Hybrid” some support via Twitter.
“I’m so proud of you brother…all of your hard work with pay off tonight. #Finish strong,” Tebow wrote.
Tebow added after the loss to Schaub, “Life is not about when you get knocked down but about having the perseverance to get back up. Proud of you brother #Heart.”
Schaub apologized for his performance on his own Twitter account, after which Tebow gave him the mini-pep talk to help lift his spirits back up. Schaub himself a former NFL player, having been on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills before joining MMA.
