Former Bellator FC lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez made an appearance at UFC on FOX 3 this past Saturday night, sitting Octagon-side with UFC President Dana White during the main event of the card. The headliner saw Nate Diaz defeat Jim Miller to secure a future shot at the lightweight title, a belt currently worn by Benson Henderson. “Smooth” and former champ Frankie Edgar will face off later this year in a rematch.
The 23-3 Alvarez, a former Bellator title-holder, is still under contract with Bjorn Rebney‘s company but revealed his deal is set to expire very soon and he will likely be exploring his options when it does. As such, he has been rumored for a possible run in the UFC with White even speaking about the possibility in recent weeks.
If the UFC signs Alvarez it will mark the second Bellator star inked to their roster in 2012 after signing Hector Lombard away. Lombard is set to make his Octagon debut in August against Brian Stann.
Alvarez avenged one of the few losses of his career in his last outing by pounding out Shinya Aoki in the opening round.
