John Lineker received unexpected helping hand prior to his bout at UFC on FOX 3

John Lineker was unsuccessful in his attempt to defeat Louis Gaudinot on the prelims at UFC on FOX 3. However, considering the non-fighting issues he dealt with it was pretty incredible that Lineker made it to the bout.

Alex Davis, who manages a number of fighters including Rousimar Palhares, helped Lineker deal some trouble cutting weight as well as other problems after his management team was unable to make it to the event from Brazil due to visa issues.

“UFC guys were very worried because he was there all alone,” said Davis in a recent interview with TATAME. “I always had this policy of helping out any Brazilians, independently of who his manager is. I did everything he needed me to do for him. We helped him train, to warm up, we went shopping with him. We did everything he needed as if he was our athlete.”

Initially Lineker did not make weight and was almost not awarded his share of the bonus money he earned for having the Fight of the Night with Gaudinot. Davis made sure to approach UFC official Joe Silva, informing him of the situation Lineker had to deal with adding, “He’s an excellent kid, he has an excellent coach and I’m really glad he got that money.”

While Lineker’s fight may not have ended as he wanted it to it looks like there was a silver-lining to the situation after all.
