The UFC announced three bouts for the July 11 UFC on Fuel 4 card, set to emanate from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, in the form of T.J. Dillashaw-Vaughn Lee, Raphael Assuncao-Issei Tamura, and Chris Cariaso-Josh Ferguson.
Dillashaw (5-1) made it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter before falling to John Dodson. The Team Alpha Male member rebounded with a win over Walel Watson earlier this year. Lee (12-7-1) is also 1-1 in his UFC career, including a submission victory over Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto.
Assuncao (16-4) sports a 1-1 UFC mark, while his opponent, Tamura, earned a victory in his debut inside the Octagon by knocking out Tiequan Zhang at UFC 144.
Cariaso (13-3) has won three of his four UFC bouts, but will be moving down to 125 from the bantamweight ranks. Ferguson (8-4) lost his UFC debut to Roland Delorme via submission but was always seen as an undersized 135er and should fare better at flyweight.
The show’s main event features Mark Munoz against Chris Weidman in a battle of middleweight contenders. Weidman is a perfect 8-0 in his career, while Munoz (12-2) is coming back from elbow surgery but is considered to be a win or two away from a title-shot.
