The card for UFC 149 is starting to resemble past UFC events where injury after injury after injury shook up the lineup. On the same day that it was reported Thiago Silva would be unable to face Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at the July event, it appears Thiago Alves was also pulled due to injury.
Alves was scheduled to face Siyar Bahadurzada on the main car who himself was a replacement for Yoshihiro Akiyama in the fight. The injury to Alves (19-9) is currently unknown. “The Pitbull” was hoping to bounce back from a loss to Martin Kampmann.
MMAWeekly was first to confirm Alves’ condition though no official announcement has been made yet.
Earlier this year, Bahadurzada (21-4-1) claimed a victory in his UFC debut with a knockout of Paulo Thiago. It is unknown if he will remain on the card or not.
