An instance of ineptitude may have cost fans the opportunity to see UFC flyweights Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall mix it up in a “sudden victory” period when the two met this past March but, on the bright side, an official’s inability to tally the scorecards has treated the world to another match-up between the two talented 125ers.
Johnson and McCall meet tomorrow night in the main event at UFC on FX 3 where the two will tussle (again) to determine an opponent for Joseph Benavidez in the organization’s first ever flyweight title-fight.
The bout was given a green light earlier this afternoon when both fighters hit their weight-related marks. McCall came in slightly heavier at 126 pounds with Johnson hitting 125 on the head.
Their pugilistic peers also all came in on weight meaning the event will go on as planned, though there were a few moments of panic pertaining to fighters coming in heavy before UFC site coordinator Burt Watson stepped in to point out the athletic commission representative was reading the scale wrong.
UFC on FX 3 kicks off on Facebook at 5:00 PM EST with Fuel TV taking over at 6:00 PM EST before the main card fires up on FX at 9:00 PM EST.
