The hits keep coming for the UFC where injuries are concerned. After already having to deal with recent withdrawals involving Thiago Silva, Thiago Alves, and Brian Stann, the organization has now been forced to replace Michael Bisping in his bout against Tim Boetsch at UFC 149.
Fortunately, the UFC already had a highly-touted middleweight ready to serve as a replacement in the form of 31-2-1 Hector Lombard (who was originally scheduled to face Stann at UFC on FOX 4). UFC officials confirmed Bisping’s status as well as the new match-up earlier today by way of the company’s website. The extent of Bisping’s health-related issue was not revealed.
Boestch is 3-0 since dropping down to 185 pounds including a memorable comeback against Yushin Okami this past February. He holds an overall record of 15-4 with twelve stoppages to his credit.
UFC 149 is set for Calgary on July 21 and features Jose Aldo-Erik Koch in the main event.
