Roy Nelson doesn’t really care who the UFC places in front of him inside the Octagon.
After defeating Dave Herman at UFC 146 last month, “Big Country” informed Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview that he would face any opponent going so far as to mention the infamous “to be announced”. Thought it seems that while Nelson would be down for anything, he does have a next challenger in mind.
“I just want a money fight. But if not, I’ve always wanted to fight (Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira),” said Nelson while making a recent appearance on Sherdog Radio. “I’ll take the winner out of ‘Big Nog’ and Cheick Kongo. I’d love that fight.”
Nogueira and Kongo meet at UFC 149 in July.
Nelson, who is 35-years old, has gone 2-1 in his last three fights with knockout victories over Herman and Mirko Filipovic. He’s also lost to the likes of Fabricio Werdum, current UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and Frank Mir – all of which came via decision.
“There’s so many (fights) out there,” Nelson said. “Because if you’re in the UFC, you’re the best in the world. You can fight that guy and be the next title contender. Brock (Lesnar) did it.”
