When news broke over the weekend pertaining to former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Rafael Cavalcante failing a drug test and facing a yearlong suspension there was rampant speculation as to what banned substance “Feijao” was found in his system. Now, thanks to an official statement from the California State Athletic Commission, the world now knows and as many assumed it was indeed a performance enhancing drugs.
According to the CSAC’s press release, the guilty culprit was Stanozolol metabolites, i.e. residual traces of the anabolic steroid Stanozolol.
In addition to the $2,500 fine and suspension issued to Cavalcante he has also had a related victory over Mike Kyle changed to a No Contest. “Feijao” is expected to appeal the CSAC’s findings.
