Report: Jose Aldo headed back to Brazil for fight with Erik Koch at UFC 153

It appears that Jose Aldo will once again be in the spotlight when the UFC returns to Brazil. Aldo and Erik Koch, who had their planned meeting at UFC 149 postponed due to an injury by “Scarface,” are expected to face off against one another at UFC 153 in October from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion, last competed in January of this year when he knocked out Chad Mendes in Rio. The man many consider one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, sports a 21-1 record including thirteen knockouts.

Koch (13-1) has not fought since defeating Jonathan Brookins last year to secure his fourth consecutive triumph.

The Brazilian news source Zero Hora was first to report the planned main event.

How’s Koch even challenging for a title? Who has he beat in the top 10? The UFC has to start doing a better job promoting this division. Ricardo lamas just had an amazing performance against the #2 featherweight in the world and it was relegated to fuel and only seen by 160,000 people. How was this fight not on the fx card? The card that was seen by 1.3 million people. 1.15 million more people. Sometimes I do not get the ufc’s thinking.

They wanted Hioki to fight Aldo but he said he wasn’t ready, and judging from his recent loss, he was right. They had no one because KZ had an upcoming fight plus after that war he’s probably not even medically cleared and even if he is then he doesn’t have enough time to prepare a camp for Jose Aldo.

This was like basically Machida fighting Jon Jones for the title because there was pretty much no one else ready to fight the champ.
