Back in May, UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones ran into more trouble in his hometown than he ever has inside the Octagon. Jones crashed his Bentley into a pole in the early morning hours of May 19. He escaped with only minor injuries, along with his two female passengers, but “Bones” was charged with DUI following the incident.
On Tuesday, Jones appeared in front of a Binghamton (New York) City Court judge to ask for a delay in his sentencing. An extension was granted, pushing things back to July 31 while giving Jones the remainder of the month to complete a drug and alcohol abuse program.
Jones, who is set to make his next title defense in September against Dan Henderson, must complete the sessions to avoid any serious jail time. He is taking the classes near a facility in Ithaca, New York.
The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin first reported the news of the Jones appearance in court.
