UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva understands he is entering the twilight of his career, as “The Spider” continues to shine despite being 37 years old. Silva will look to make a second successful title defense against Chael Sonnen this Saturday night at UFC 148, defeating him back in 2010 via submission.
During a recent pre-fight press conference, Silva was asked if the Sonnen contest could be considered his retirement fight as some had speculated in the past.
“Nope,” was Silva’s simple answer, even speaking English to silence the retirement talk.
Silva has been undefeated since 2006, losing by disqualification back in 2006. He has already made nine successful title defenses since claiming the title from Rich Franklin.
