UFC inks deal to bring promotion to China later this year

The UFC is continuing to stretch its borders, as a November event has been planned for Macau, China. The card is expected to be a FUEL TV-televised event on November 10.

Macau is one of two territories in China – Hong Kong being the other – and has well over 544,000 people living in it. The card will go down inside the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel which holds 15,000 people.

“Breaking into a market with a population of over 1.3 billion is both a testament to the growth of our sport and a long-term challenge we are excited to undertake,” said UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in a press release. “This is just the first of many world-class fights we plan to hold over the coming years in China, one of the birthplaces of martial arts.”

UFC President Dana White took to Twitter to give his take on the news, posting, “We finally got China done! We’re headed to Macau in November!!!”

No fights have been announced for the card yet.
