MMA fans will be doing double duty on September 29 as Zuffa has added a Strikeforce event to the docket atop their fifth Fuel TV offering which takes place live in Nottingham, England. By the time the as of yet named Strikeforce event begins, UFC: Nottingham will have just wrapped up, offering fans a full day’s worth of action.
Strikeforce will be taking over the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California.While very few details on the event have been released, one participant has been confirmed, Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier (10-0). The AKA fighter came into the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand prix as an alternate, replacing former champion Alistair Overeem and obliterating Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in the first round of their meeting. Cormier went on the win the tournament and be crowned the promotional champion after defeating Josh Barnett in a lopsided unanimous decision this passed May.
