Every fight is personal to UFC bantamweight contender Urijah Faber

Urijah Faber has been seen as one of the best fighters in MMA for several years. So, to say he has become a litmus test for others is an understatement.

This coming Saturday night, Faber will seek to add another mark to his impressive resume when he meets Renan Barao for the interim UFC bantamweight title.

Faber and Barao will be the main event for UFC 149, which takes place from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

By now, we all know that Faber was suppose to face Dominick Cruz for the UFC bantamweight title after coaching stints on The Ultimate Fighter. Cruz, however, injured his leg and was sent to the sidelines, forcing an interim title to be created in his absence.

While Faber has plenty of hatred for Cruz – which was evident during the show – he still has a sense of hatred for Barao.

“I don’t know Barao, I know nothing about him personally and I don’t dislike him as a person like I do Dominick Cruz, but every fight is personal to me,” said Faber during a recent media event. “Barao is trying to harm me, to mess me up and take away my dream of being the UFC world champion. What’s more personal than that.”

Faber sports an impressive 26-6 record in his career, but Barao has not lost since his debut. He is 28-0 with one no-contest since that defeat, and has not lost a round since joining the UFC.
