Alexander Gustafsson has positioned himself quite nicely in the UFC‘s light heavyweight division.
Since a submission loss to Phil Davis, “The Mauler” has won his last five fights including two via submission and two by TKO. In his most recent Octagon encounter, Gustafsson downed Thiago Silva by decision, giving himself another important win.
However, the victory came at a price, as Gustafsson has been forced to the sidelines to deal with several nagging injuries. However, he did confirm to UFC Tonight recently that he did not suffer a broken hand, as was originally thought.
“I never broke my hand, really, I just had some small injuries that I have been rehabbing,” Gustafsson said. “It is all good. I’m hoping after the summer, September-October (to fight again).”
While Gustafsson heals up, he will keep a watchful eye on the UFC 151 showdown between light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. As for who comes out victorious, Gustafsson went with the reigning champ.
“Jones will win on decision,” the Swede said. “The only thing Dan has on Jones is his right hand. If (Jones) can stay away from that, he is going to win the fight (by) decision.”
