Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck tabbed as UFC 151 co-main event

Welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Josh Koscheck will each try to get back on the right path when they collide this fall. The two talented 170ers have been signed as the co-main event for UFC 151 which goes down September 1 from Las Vegas.

UFC officials confirmed the bout last night.

Entering his last outing, Ellenberger (27-6) was riding high on a six-fight winning streak before Martin Kampmann caught him with a knee, dropping “The Juggernaut” from the top of the division.

Meanwhile, Koscheck (17-6) watched a three-fight run be halted by a decision defeat to Johny Hendricks.

The two men who defeated Ellenberger and Koscheck most recently – Kampmann and Hendricks – are slated to face each other in a #1 contender contest later this year.

Along with the pivotal welterweight clash, the card features Jon Jones defending his UFC light heavyweight crown against Dan Henderson in the main event.

This is turning out to be one hell of a card.. This is a hard fight to pick, but im gonna go out on a limb and go with Koscheck via having an evenly matched skill set with much better cardio than Ellenberger.

I was able to meet Jake at the San Jose fights last week, the guy is very cool and pretty damm large, hope to see him win here but this is a pretty even fight, Kos might win with his wrestling.

If Kos wins what else can Zuffa do with him… Perenial contender who will never fight for the belt again.

Ellenberger is a more dangerous striker on the feet than Kos. Sure Koscheck has some power but he throws that wild, telegraphed right hand that, should he choose to go there, will leave him open for Ellenberger to do damage.

If it does turn into a wrestling match, then it’s a tougher fight to call. But if the majority of the action stays on the feet, which I expect it will, then Ellenberger wins this.

I like Jake in this one. Hopefully Josh ends up face down in a pool of his own blood. I can’t stand that prick.

Rece- Kos has already stated that he’s looking for “Money” fights. I guess the Ellenberger fight is high enough profile. If Josh wins, he’s already talked of playing around at MW. Or maybe he’d go do a one off in SF just to finally hold a belt.
