Rob Broughton and Matt Mitrione will not exchange punches at UFC on FOX 4, as Broughton has been forced to pull out of the pairing. Broughton and Mitrione were expected to meet at the August 4 card in Los Angeles. The fight was planned to be broadcast on the FUEL TV prelims.
The report, which was first confirmed by MMAJunkie, said Broughton has a personal matter that needs to be dealt with. The heavyweight is 15-7-1 in his career.
No mention of a possible late-minute replacement for Broughton to face Mitrione (5-1) was revealed in the report.
UFC on FOX 4 features a main event between former divisional king Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera, along with a 205-pound tilt seeing Ryan Bader take on ex-UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida.
