Tim Kennedy has eyes fixed on future meeting with Roger Gracie

Tim Kennedy knows he will need to score some impressive victories to move back into a shot at the Strikeforce middleweight title. fter failing for a second time to secure the strap, Kennedy is now looking to square off with Roger Gracie.

Kennedy and Gracie both fought on the most recent Strikeforce card, as Kennedy was defeated by 185-pound champion Luke Rockhold while Gracie made a successful divisional debut besting Keith Jardine.

“I read (Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker) said Gracie was the best grappler in Strikeforce,” Kennedy posted on his Twitter page recently. “I would love to prove that is not the case.”

Kennedy sports a career record of 14-4 and would prove to be a strong challenger to Gracie. The former light heavyweight is 5-1, with his lone defeat coming to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.  He has never been tapped out in his career.

Tim wasn’t to impressive in his last bout…

  • Richard Stabone says:

Rockhold’s reach was just too much for Tim. The matchup with Gracie makes sense though… not like there’s a lot of options over there in SF. One way or another, just let the man fight. Seems he needs to constantly beg for matchups to be made.

Won’t Gracie have a reach advantage over kennedy as well?

Agree or Disagree: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

  • Richard Stabone says:

Yep, but with much more rudimentary striking skills than Rockhold the reach advantage for Gracie becomes much less of a factor.
