With UFC 153 filling up it looks like at least one Brazilian will be competing outside of his homeland in the coming months, as Paulo Thiago has been linked to a bout with Dong Hyun Kim at UFC on Fuel 6 in November when the organization makes its live debut in China. In addition to being an intriguing fight, the bout is also an important one in the respective futures of each considering their inability to find consistent success inside the Octagon as of late. Kim has lost two of his last three tilts, while Thiago is 1-3 in his previous four pairings.
Though not officially confirmed, Thiago himself made mention of the match-up in an interview with TATAME where the 14-4 finisher said, “He’s a tough guy with many skills. He’s tall, is great at Judo, (and) has good takedowns. He’s a complete fighter.”
Kim holds an overall record of 15-2-1 with past wins against Matt Brown, Amir Sadollah, and Nate Diaz. The South Korean star was last seen suffering a TKO stoppage due to a freak injury earlier this month.
No headliner has been attached to the November 10 show though the UFC has spoken openly of an attempt to put a fight together featuring Rich Franklin-Cung Le.
