UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones will be an interested viewer when UFC on FOX 4 goes down tomorrow night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. As Jones continues to prepare for his September meeting at UFC 151 with Dan Henderson, the next contender for the title he currently wears is expected to be decided in one of two bouts on the card.
In the main event, former divisional title-holder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua takes on Brandon Vera, while fellow former champ Lyoto Machida battles Ryan Bader. All four men have been past foes for “Bones” who earned stoppage victories against the quartet. Jones submitted both Bader and Machida, while claiming TKO victories against Rua and Vera.
On his Twitter page recently, Jones gave his opinion on how he feels the fights will go, writing, “I got ‘Shogun’ by decision after a predominant striking match. Vera could make it more interesting if he uses takedowns.”
As for Machida-Bader, Jones said, “I could see Machida stopping the fight, out classing Bader with good foot work and fast strikes. Bader needs to turn it into a brawl.”
