Frankie Edgar knows what it takes to become a champion in the UFC. After stunning B.J. Penn and securing the lightweight title, Edgar successfully defended the belt against both Penn and Gray Maynard. However, Benson Henderson got the best of Edgar earlier this year in Japan, earning the belt as the result of a decision victory. Now, tonight, “The Answer” gets his shot at redemption.
UFC 150 takes place tonight on pay-per-view from Denver, Colorado where the two lightweight warriors will meet in the main event.
For Edgar, this is a fight he had to talk his way into. The “Jersey Shore” fighter believes there is only one thing he needs to do vs. Henderson.
“Sometimes it is not about being your best, but whoever is the best fighter that night,” said Edgar during Fuel TV’s coverage of the weigh-ins. “I need to make sure that I am the best fighter on that night.”
While he prefers to avoid watching tape of his previous fights, Edgar did say his coaches made him watch the Henderson bout once. From there, he left strategy in the hands of those guiding him to construct a plan of action.
“They definitely watched it a lot and we applied it in practice,” Edgar said. “You know, all the adjustments that we have made and the stuff we saw on tape, I have to make sure that I execute them.”
The show kicks off on PPV at 10:00 PM EST with prelims airing on Facebook/FX in the hours leading up to the event.
