Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold is six weeks removed from a five-round scrap with Tim Kennedy, scoring his second successful defense of the divisional belt. Hopefully the 27-year old has enjoyed his time off, as it appears he’ll be putting his gold up for grabs at some point soon after revealing last night he’d been booked for his next bout.
“Training camp starts tomorrow! Fighting sooner then I thought, sure there’ll be an announcement in next week or two,” wrote Rockhold on his Twitter account.
While the 10-1 title-holder didn’t announce who he’d be facing it seems a rematch with Ronaldo Souza is a likely possibility considering Rockhold procured the Strikeforce scrap by outpointing the submission-specialist this past September. “Jacare” has come out with his hand raised in both of his fights since the loss including a 41-second knockout of Derek Brunson earlier this month.
Comparably, Rockhold is also 2-0 in the same span with success against Kennedy and Keith Jardine.
