Middleweight meeting between Patrick Cote-Alessio Sakara signed for UFC 154

A middleweight contest between two fighters in need of a UFC victory has been signed for this fall, as Patrick Cote and Alessio Sakara will meet at UFC 154. Fortunately for the former, Cote will also enter the bout with the added advantage of fighting in front of his fellow French-Canadians based on the event being in Montreal.

The November 17 show is set to feature a headlining bout between Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit to unify the welterweight title and the interim belt.

Cote (17-8), a former title-contender, was defeated by Cung Le earlier this year upon returning to the promotion after racking up a series of consecutive wins outside the organization. “The Predator” will be looking for his first victory inside the Octagon since 2008 when he faces Sakara.

On the flip side, Sakara (15-9) is an even 6-6 in his UFC career. He is coming off back-to-back losses to Brian Stann and Chris Weidman but is known for his striking prowess and should match up nicely with Cote given his shared interest in stand-up.

This will not go three rounds, and I see Cote getting a win but it will be a pretty good scrap as both have good striking Cote has power and a serious chin and Sakara has great technique.
