Dan Miller Jr. undergoes successful kidney transplant

Nearly a year ago the world learned about the plight of Danny Miller Jr., the infant son of UFC welterweight Dan Miller suffering from a potentially fatal disease called Polycystic Kidney Disease. Little news on Miller’s condition has surfaced since then, at least until today when a smile-sparking update was offered up.

“The word is that everything has gone well with my (kidney) nephew’s transplant. Both Danny and my Aunt came out strong. Thank you everyone for the support,” posted brother (and fellow UFC fighter) Jim Miller on Twitter, later adding, “Pee! My 2 1/2 yr old nephew has kidney function for the first time in over two years. One hurdle cleared, many more ahead.”

Miller Jr. received an outpouring of love from the MMA community after his father publicized the family’s need for additional funds based on the donor’s decision to help being labeled as “elective surgery” by an insurance company. Fans, as well as the UFC, stepped up financially and the fruits of their kindness have apparently paid off in full.
